As founder and president of Hats Off to Chemo, Tammy Burton is a driving force behind this international non-profit organization, established to donate hats to children and adults undergoing chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
Tammy, along with Charlie Higgins, founded Hats Off to Chemo in September of 1999 after being confronted with a friend’s life-threatening cancer.
Along with founding Hats Off to Chemo, Tammy owns and operates Smelly Paws and Wick-It! Custom Candle Gallery, a candle manufacturing company and retail store.
Tammy has assisted several charitable organizations. She served as a director for the Volunteer Action Centre of Kitchener/Waterloo and was co-chair of their fundraising committee. She was also President of the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Waterloo Region.
Tammy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Western Ontario. She has also attained a diploma in Non-Profit Management and Fund-Raising Management.
Tammy is married and resides in Shakespeare, Ontario.
