Hats Off to Chemo today announced a new partnership with Sears Canada. As of today, anyone interested in supporting Hats Off to Chemo can drop off hats at any of the Sears catalogue, retail and furniture Stores across Ontario.

Hats Off to Chemo is a cashless charity that accepts hats only and distributes them to children and adults through regional cancer centres and cancer support groups.

``Sears Canada is always looking for ways to give back to the community, and more importantly, to help people in need,'' says Sears Cobourg manager Anne Mitchell.

``By partnering with Hats Off to Chemo, we are serving the communities we live and work in, while helping this enthusiastic and dedicated charity gain a greater support throughout the province,'' she said.

Sears Canada is the second company to partner with Hats Off to Chemo. Union Gas Limited supported the charity by acting as a collection depot at its office in Kingston.

``Because Hats Off to Chemo doesn't campaign for funds, we rely on the support of companies like Search Canada and Union Gas,'' says executive director Tammy Burton. ``Partnering with these companies allows us to raise awareness of our charity, as well as distribute hats to adults and children undergoing chemotherapy and radiation therapy.''

Donations now can be made at 569 Sears locations, at the Union Gas office in Kingston, and at the Hats Off to Chemo head office at 36 Regent St., in Shakespeare, Ont. The organization has already received its first celebrity hats signed by Detroit Red Wing Dino Ciccarelli and the Tragically Hip's Paul Langlois.

Hats Off to Chemo was founded in 1999 by Ms. Burton and Charlie Higgins, in honour of a friend who was diagnosed with cancer.

Cancer centres and support groups that wish to contact the charity can call 519-501-7518 or send an email to hatsoff@orc.ca. More information is available on the charity's web site at www.hatsoff-to-chemo.org.
