LANCERS ASK FANS TO TAKE "HATS OFF TO
CHEMO"
(Windsor, ON) - The University of Windsor
Lancers have teamed up with Hats Off to Chemo to raise 2002 hats for
children and adults across Canada who have lost their hair to chemo and
radiation treatments.
Lancer fans are asked to bring a new or unused hat to any game this
week at the St. Denis Centre or Adie Knox Herman Arena. Fans who bring a
hat for donation will receive free admission to the game of their choice
this week. University of Windsor students who bring hats will be entered
into a draw for a 27" colour television compliments of Ernie's Electronics
in Kingsville, Ontario. The draw will be made at live at halftime of the
men's basketball game on Cogeco Television's Lancer Sports Saturday at
8:30 p.m. on Saturday evening.
This week's home schedule includes a volleyball showdown for first
place in the OUA West Division when the Lancers host the Western Mustangs
Wednesday night at 6 and 8 p.m., a pair of interlock basketball games as
York and Laurentian Universities visit the Blue and Gold on Friday and
Saturday respectively. As well, the Lancer men's hockey team will look to
lock up a playoff birth with a pair of contests against their rivals, the
Laurier Golden Hawks Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3:30
p.m.
Other partners in
Hats Off to Chemo include the Adidas Outlet Store in the Windsor Crossings
Outlet Mall, who will donate a hat for every hat sold in their store this
week. The Windsor Spitfires and TD Evergreen have also pledged their help
in raising and donating hats for this worthy cause.
