Donations Earn A Tip of The Cap

    The city of Kingston is very lucky to have so many big hearted and
generous citizens. This point was driven home when on Friday, August 11,
2000 Kingstonians helped to bring many smiles to children and adults
undergoing chemotherapy treatments.
     KFC and "Hats Off To Chemo" partnered up to raise 1,000 hats for
patients who have lost their hair to chemotherapy treatments. Because of
so many kind people the "Hats Off To Chemo" Day was a huge success bringing
in a total of 1, 416 hats!
   This day would not have happened without the help of many individuals,
and I'd like to take the time to thank a few. To all of the KFC employees
in Kingston and Brockville, thank you for your hard work, enthusiasm, and
spirit! The crazy hats you wore all day in the restaurants only added to
the atmosphere! To Tammy Burton and Charlie Higgins, founder and
co-founder of "Hats Off To Chemo", for allowing KFC to hold the fundraiser.
To Jeff Stilwell and the Kingston Frontenacs, as well as Brent McIntyre
at Vogelzang Insurance and the Kingston Ponies for their kind donations.
To Paul Burton at Kingston This Week, and Angelique Cardinal at The Whig
for co-ordinating the ads at their papers. To Country 96-you truly live up
to being the Spirit of Kingston by promoting this day through interviews
and continual broadcasts. And to my Grandma who stayed up until the wee
hours of the morning counting hats with me!
     Big thanks to all of those who donated hats at KFC, it was greatly
appreciated! And for those still wishing to donate hats to "Hats Off To
Chemo", Union Gas on Gardiners Rd is the sponsor for this program and will
gladly accept your new hats! Once again, congratulations Kingston for
helping KFC and "Hats Off To Chemo" raise so many hats!
